The two most legal-savvy bloggers we follow, Victoria Strauss and Kristine Kathryn Rusch, have some big-picture posts up for writers to read and heed.

Strauss, who has been issuing alerts about serial writing/reading apps as problem children arise, has written an overarching guest post for Writer Unboxed.

This way, even if Writer Beware hasn't called out a particular company, you'll know how to evaluate a serial writing/reading app before signing any deals.

This is important for many reasons, of course, but it ties in nicely with Rusch's latest business musing post about how valuable long-term intellectual property protection is.

She uses the contrasting examples of the Elvis Presley Estate and the author of an article that inspired the original Top Gun movie, as proof of how smart decisions can pay off — and of how costly short-sighted ones can be.
