Listening to Blair Braverman will likely make you grateful for the creature comforts you enjoy pretty much constantly.

She was a contestant on a reality TV show called Naked And Afraid in 2018 — which, yes, apparently was exactly what it sounds like — and has written two books about her adventures in the very far north (where, presumably, she wore plenty of clothing).

Now, she's borrowing from her own life for a novel called Small Game.

In it, five people agree to be on a reality TV show that drops its contestants into a remote wilderness, and ... no spoilers other than things do not go as expected.

You can hear Braverman's musings on discomfort versus suffering in an NPR interview with Ayesha Rascoe, and you can also read an excerpt from Small Game at Literary Hub.

And, like I plan to do later, you can listen to Braverman discuss Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which crashed in the Andes on October 13, 1972, on the podcast You're Wrong About.
