The best annual literary award revealed its winner last week (and we missed it!).
The Bookseller/Diagram Prize for the Oddest Book Title of the Year has gone to RuPedagogies of Realness: Essays on Teaching and Learning with RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The collection of essays examining the broader significance of a TV show took home 39 percent of votes, beating What Nudism Exposes: An Unconventional History of Postwar Canada (with 25 percent of votes), Jane Austen and the Buddha: Teachers of Enlightenment (16 percent), and three other books.
Notably, the publisher of RuPedagogies of Realness also produced last year's winning title, as well as this year's third-place recipient, Jane Austen and the Buddha.
A "passable bottle of claret" is traditionally given to the person who nominates the winning title, which itself simply earns a great deal of attention.
