Continuing a trend for the naughty versus seemingly nonsensical, Is Superman Circumcised? has won the 2021 Diagram Prize for Oddest Book Title of the Year.

The Guardian notes that it received 51 percent of the vote in a race that contained six titles total; more than 11,000 people voted.

The managing editor of The Bookseller, which runs the prize, noted that Roy Schwartz’s study of the superhero’s Jewish influences fit the mold of recent winners.

“We’ve seen once again that Diagram voters are pulled to titles that are just wee bit naughty,” Tom Tivnan told the Guardian.

Schwartz will receive a “passable bottle of claret,” which he well deserves after his very cleverly cheeky response to winning, which you can read in the Guardian.
