Being an author, nowadays, most likely means wearing a number of different hats — marketer, accountant, and storyteller.

So if you feel like you're struggling with putting together an annual plan for your author business, that might be the source of your issue.

That was the case, years ago, for Orna Ross, director of the Alliance of Independent Authors.

A linear to-do list might work okay, as it did for her, if your sole responsibility is the writing portion.

But if you're handling the marketing and business sides, you'll want to approach planning different.
