The changing of the year is a time when many of us think about changes in our life.

Sometimes that means adding on ... and other times, it means letting go.

Publishing experts Orna Ross and Joanna Penn know that letting go — or, said another way, quitting — doesn't seem as virtuous as persevering.

But, they say, your time, energy, and finances are all finite, so it can truly make sense to let go of a project in order to focus on something with more potential or reward.

How do you know when you're letting go, versus giving up too early?

Ross and Penn discuss this issue at length, inspired by the book Quit: The Power of Knowing When to Walk Away by Annie Duke, in an episode of The Creative Penn.

You can listen to or read their conversation about how authors can evaluate if quitting is worthwhile on Penn's blog.
