We have a trailer and release date for the adaptation of Judy Blume's beloved novel Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

The movie starring Abby Ryder Fortson as Margaret (and Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates as her mother and grandmother, respectively) hits theaters April 28.

Blume was famously unwilling to sell the rights to this particular book for years; at a screening for the film on Wednesday, she said it was the most personal of the novels she's written.

But director Kelly Fremon Craig wrote a "persuasive and passionate" letter to Blume, notes CNN, and the author changed her mind.
