Everyone is entitled to change their opinion, of course — even authors of self-help books.

So we're not here to judge Marie Kondo, who wrote the international hit The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing, for making a big public admission.

She's now a mother of three ... with a not-so-tidy home.

"My home is messy, but the way I am spending my time is the right way for me at this time at this stage of my life," she said at a recent event, reports The Washington Post.

Instead, what she's focusing on is adding calmness or happiness to everyday tasks — the topic of her latest book, Marie Kondo’s Kurashi at Home: How to Organize Your Space and Achieve Your Ideal Life, which came out late last year.

If you don't have a Washington Post subscription, you can still read more about Kondo's new take on life by going to NPR.
