Award-winning author Lydia Davis has a new short-story collection in the works ... but it won't be available for sale everywhere.

Our Strangers comes out in October at physical bookshops, Bookshop.org, and selected online independent retailers — not Amazon.

“We value small businesses, yet we give too much of our business to the large and the powerful – and often, increasingly, we have hardly any choice," Davis told the Guardian.

She sort of follows in the footsteps of author Dave Eggers, whose 2021 novel The Every was not available on Amazon at first — except Davis gave no indication that her book would eventually make it there.
