Maurice Sendak’s other creative endeavors are receiving some time in the spotlight.

The Where The Wild Things Are author spent his later years working as a set and costume designer, and that work is now honored in a new exhibit.

Drawing the Curtain: Maurice Sendak’s Designs for Opera and Ballet runs through October 6 at New York City’s Morgan Library & Museum.

The Smithsonian describes more about this period of Sendak’s career and also previews some of the exhibit's images.
