Happy Fourth of July to our American readers!

If you need a quick dose of holiday-appropriate fiction to get you in the mood for parades, fireworks, and grilling parties, we have just the ticket.

Fussy author Salina B. Baker, an avid student of colonial America and the American Revolution, did an interview with us recently in which she introduced us to a little-known founding father who, of course, stars in her fiction.

And Kristine Kathryn Rusch’s free fiction offering for this week is “Patriotic Gestures,” an award-winning story that explores the fine lines that run through American culture.
