The big reveals in a new interview with George R.R. Martin aren’t connected to the most commonly speculated-about topics.

(Namely: his health, his reaction to the Game of Thrones ending, and the ETA for The Winds of Winter.)

Nor, really, is it about his sense of relief that the TV show has wrapped up.

Instead, they’re about what he misses from the early days of writing the Song of Ice and Fire series and which scene he’s most proud of in his work.
