Readers of an upcoming Marvel coffee-table book won’t find an introduction from a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist after all.
Art Spiegelman, who received the honor for his Holocaust graphic memoir Maus, told the Washington Post that he pulled his foreword to Marvel: The Golden Age, 1939-1949 rather than take out a jab at Donald Trump to keep the book "apolitical."
You can, however, read the text in its entirety — plus the author’s account of the whole saga — in the Guardian.
Folio Society, which asked Spiegelman to provide the introduction, and Marvel Comics have declined to comment on the situation.
