Curtis Sittenfeld’s fiction is moving to the other side of the political aisle, with Rodham coming out June 30.

As you maybe guessed from the title, the heroine of this novel is Hillary Clinton — only she turns down all of Bill’s marriage proposals, rather than finally agreeing to marry him as she did in real life.

Sittenfeld tells PEOPLE magazine that all of the stories trying to determine who Hillary Clinton was during the 2016 election cycle made her wonder, instead, what it was like to actually be her.

She also told PEOPLE that, although Rodham will be her second book about a first lady (American Wife, a reimagining of Laura Bush, being the first), she doesn’t anticipate writing anything on the current first lady.
