Is this good news to start your week on a positive note, or bad news that fittingly arrives on a Monday?

Either way, that won’t change the facts that HBO’s adaptation of Americanah, a bestselling novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has stalled.

Literary Hub shared Deadline’s reporting that actress Lupita Nyong’o, who was going to star in and produce the show, pulled out after scheduling conflicts arose.

It appears that loss prompted HBO to put the brakes on the adaptation altogether.

Americanah is the story of Nigerian immigrants Ifemelu, who makes it to the United States, and Obinze, unable to go farther than London, and their reunion after that experience in their homeland.
