2020 continues in some ways, even though the year has changed: namely, in that a bestselling book will become a movie … but will air on television instead of in theaters.

The Girl Before, a psychological thriller by JP Delaney, will be adapted into a four-part BBC One series, reports Deadline.

HBO Max could be the US co-production partner, but that isn’t set in stone.

Regardless, Deadline is confident that Gugu Mbatha-Raw, star of The Morning Show, will play the lead.

The Girl Before had previously been optioned for a feature film to be directed by Ron Howard.
