Author Ken Follett is donating the proceeds from a book about the Notre-Dame de Paris fire to help rebuild a different cathedral.
Notre-Dame: A Short History of the Meaning of Cathedrals brought in £127,000 (over $176,400) for those efforts, reports the Guardian.
Follett, bestselling author of The Pillars of the Earth, wanted to express his emotions over the damage to Notre-Dame, but rather than personally profit from the fire, he decided that a French charity could reap the benefits.
The Fondation du Patrimoine will put the money towards the renovation of Saint-Samson de Dol-de-Bretagne cathedral.
The Guardian has more on why Follett feels so connected to cathedrals and why he chose this particular one to help restore.
