Zelda Fitzgerald died on this day in 1948, but she absolutely has not been forgotten.

For proof, we present the fact that Nintendo named the main character of its Legend of Zelda video game after her.

Literary Hub says that, according to the book The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia, a PR rep suggested that the title princess be “a timeless beauty with classic appeal.”

That description, evidently, evoked the wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald for game creator Shigeru Miyamoto.

Lit Hub shares a few other pop-culture homages to the former Zelda Sayre in its post.
