Elizabeth Acevedo is ready to try her hand at a new literary genre: adult fiction.

The currently untitled novel will come out in 2023 in English and Spanish simultaneously.

Literary Hub reports that it follows a Dominican American family organizing a wake for their matriarch while she’s still alive, per her request.

“This novel has been humming underneath my skin for close to a decade and I’m delighted to share it with the world,” Acevedo said in a press release.

She has previously written The Poet X and Clap When You Land, both young-adult works that won popular and critical acclaim.
