Jane Austen traditionalists, brace yourselves: another “modern-day take” on Pride and Prejudice is in the works.
Variety reports that the movie is called Fire Island after its setting — the historic gay escape off the southern shore of Long Island.
Bowen Yang and Joel Kim Booster will star in the romantic comedy, which will air on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus under the Star brand elsewhere.
The Austen influence isn’t explained any further in Variety’s announcement, but there are a few more details about the production and finance teams.
