For decades, academics had debated whether a long-lost manuscript from Marcel Proust still existed.

They received their answer early this year, when Les Soixante-quinze feuillets (The Seventy-Five Pages) was discovered in the papers of the late publisher Bernard de Fallois.

It’s currently out in French, but there’s good news for bookworms who can’t read the language of love: The New Yorker has an excerpt in English titled “Young Girls.”
