No one is happy with the American Booksellers Association right now.
Last week, many members discovered the book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters by Abigail Shrier, along with a sell sheet, in their monthly mailing.
Irreversible Damage has been praised by conservative media for how it questions the legitimacy of gender dysphoria — and condemned by Psychology Today and LGBTQ+ advocates as being anti-transgender.
ABA members took to social media to condemn its inclusion in the July mailing, prompting the group to issue an apology via Twitter.
That tweet has since been deleted, but it said, in part: “An anti-trans book was included in our July mailing to members. This is a serious, violent incident that goes against ABA’s ends policies, values, and everything we believe and support.”
The statement further inflamed the debate, and the ABA made its Twitter account private in response.
