Neil deGrasse Tyson’s newest book has another superlative attached to it, at least in the author’s mind.

The Associated Press reports that the astrophysicist, author, and commentator describes Starry Messenger: Cosmic Perspectives on Civilization as his “most important” book yet.

The book, set to come out next fall, is a call for science and rational thought to lead us to a better life on Earth.

“As a scientist I could not sit idly by and watch the irrationalities of the world dismantle civilization, knowing that a dose of sensibility — a cosmic perspective in our collective thinking can save us from ourselves,” he said in a statement.

Also coming out next fall: an updated paperback version of Origins: Fourteen Billion Years of Cosmic Evolution, which Tyson co-wrote in 2004.
