Politicians have been brought down by a variety of scandals over the years.

But this one out of Texas is a perfectly clean one to discuss in public.

Browser the cat had worked at the White Settlement Public Library since October 2010, charming patrons and controlling a pest problem, reports CBS.

But over the summer, a city worker’s complaints about Browser led to the cat being “fired.”

That, in turn, stirred up considerable public outrage, and so the White Settlement City Council held a vote on what to do with Browser.

Only one person voted against reinstating Browser: Elzie Clements.

And this November, a lot of people voted against re-electing Clements.

As CBS notes, Browser the cat outlasted at least one person who wanted him out.

Meowch.
