Fewer than a dozen nonseries books have spent more than a hundred weeks on the New York Times bestseller lists, according to the newspaper.

With that small of a sample size, it’s hard to pick out trends — but, of course, human nature compels us to at least try.

Editor Elisabeth Egan shares two takeaways on the longevity of these “century club” bestsellers in the NY Times.
