Author Karen Joy Fowler is well known for The Jane Austen Book Club.

Her latest novel also drops a famous name in the title — or make that infamous.

Booth, which came out yesterday, imagines the life of a family who spawned one of the most loathed figures in United States History: John Wilkes Booth.

The novel begins with patriarch Junius Booth surreptitiously moving into a remote cabin in 1822 to begin raising a family and emerging from secrecy ... against the backdrop of a country building up to war.

You can read an excerpt of Booth in Literary Hub.
