Today's screen adaptation updates are still about far-off projects, but ones that are taking definite steps forward.

Literary Hub noted that author Ocean Vuong announced in an Instagram story that he'd finished adapting his debut novel, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, into a movie script.

So stay tuned for announcements about casting, filming beginning, etc.

On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, told via a letter from a Vietnamese-American man to his mother, explores his family’s history; it was a bestseller in 2019 as well as a frequent inclusion on best-of lists.

And this update is more of a stretch, but hey, The Fussy Librarian is based in Iowa, so we had to share it.

Production will begin this summer on a limited series based on the movie Field of Dreams, itself based off the novel Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella.

The Hollywood Reporter says it won't, however, include the original movie site, now a hot tourist attraction (as well as the site of a single baseball game each year).

The Field of Dreams series will air on the streaming service Peacock.
