We're approaching the release date of Bob Dylan's The Philosophy of Modern Song.

So, of course, the previews are coming.

The New York Times boasts of two excerpts from The Philosophy of Modern Song, which comes out November 1.

The book is composed of essays on sixty-five songs and one poem, and the NYT says about half of those essays are accompanied by a "riff" — a short piece in which the singer-songwriter tries to capture the spirit of the composition.

Both of the NYT excerpts are from essays that have riffs.

(And fun fact: Dylan received the Nobel Prize in Literature on this day in 2016.)
