Congratulations to actress (and author) Viola Davis, who has become the third Black woman and eighteenth person overall to achieve EGOT status!

Why is this literary news? Because her Grammy win, announced last night, came for her work on the memoir Finding Me.

"I wrote this book to honor the 6-year-old Viola — to honor her life, her joy, her trauma, her everything," Davis said as she accepted the award.

"And it has been such a journey. I just EGOT!"

Davis defeated several other previous Grammy winners to nab this year's award for best audiobook, narration and storytelling recording, notes NPR.

EGOT is an acronym for the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards — in other words, the four major American entertainment awards.
