We previously shared an author's theory on why readers love dark academia.
But even if you drop the dark, there is something that captures the attention — for some readers, at least — about academia, period.
Author Daisy Alpert Florin counts herself among that crowd, as her debut novel takes place in a main character's final semester of college.
And Florin has given some thought to why college feels like the perfect place for fiction.
College is both vast, in its possibilities and time duration, and tiny, in how it's finite and insular — at least, that's how Florin feels.
You can read her praise of the campus novel in full at Lit Hub.
