Maybe, instead of adapting fiction into movies, filmmakers can deliver tributes to the authors whose work we so loved instead.

Classic YA author Judy Blume seems like a great place to start.

The documentary Judy Blume Forever, which releases April 21, covers her influence on pop culture as well as the reaction (positive and negative) to her honest coverage of puberty and sex in her books.

It includes interviews with authors Jason Reynolds and Tayari Jones, actresses Molly Ringwald and Lena Dunham, and comedian Samantha Bee.

You can see them — and the author herself — in the trailer for Judy Blume Forever, which dropped yesterday.
