It's surely hard to choose just one hundred influential people, when you don't have very many parameters.
So we shouldn't have given TIME magazine such flack for only including a few writers (or a single writer) in years past.
But we will give a hearty round of applause to the 100 Most Influential People of 2023 list, because it includes four novelists, plus a playwright and a librarian.
Whether you like, love, loathe, or feel indifferent toward the writers, it's hard to deny that they've had a big cultural impact.
Head to TIME's website to read, specifically, why Judy Blume, Neil Gaiman, Colleen Hoover, and Salman Rushdie were chosen, along with the nominations for playwright Suzan-Lori Parks and librarian Tracie D. Hall.
