With the news that a German book distributor is going to incorporate ChatGPT technology into its services, the Guardian was tempted to put AI to work on some well-known books.

It asked for blurbs, tweets, and one-liners about some famous books from throughout history.

And sometimes, it threw in a style request as well.

See what ChatGPT had to say about — er, how it summed up — the Bible, Beowulf, Middlemarch, Ulysses, Beloved, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and It Ends With Us in the Guardian.
