Why are we talking about a beloved Christmas movie in June?

Because the novel that inspired it is featured in a book that released today.

The Last Action Heroes: The Triumphs, Flops, and Feuds of Hollywood's Kings of Carnage by Nick de Semlyen takes us back to the 1980s and early 1990s.

Back then, the undisputed box office champions were names like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Bruce Willis.

Willis, of course, won hearts with his turn as John McClane in Die Hard, known less as a book adaptation and more as a quirky (but surprisingly common) choice as best Christmas movie.

You can read how that happened in Literary Hub's excerpt from The Last Action Heroes.
