Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor isn't alone among her peers in publishing books along with legal opinions.
But an Associated Press investigation has revealed that Sotomayor has done far more publicly sponsored travel, to places like colleges and libraries, in promotion of her books.
And her staffers haven't hesitated to push these host sites to purchase more copies of her books, according to the AP.
The Supreme Court is allowed to use its taxpayer-funded staffers to do such work, something that members of the executive branch and Congress aren't allowed to do.
Since joining the court in 2009, Sotomayor has earned at least $3.7 million from her memoir and children's books.
You can read more about Sotomayor's book sales from speaking engagements and how this fits into a broader moment examining the Supreme Court justices' lives beyond the bench in the AP.
