Things that make reading less fun

Is there anything that can suck the joy out of reading for bookworms?

Right off the bat, there is, of course, having a book be assigned in a class.

But there are other non-academic ways, apparently.

For BookRiot's Connie Pan (among other bloggers), tracking reading makes it less enjoyable.

And in a New York Times interview, author Richard Russo said that becoming a writer removes some of the magic from reading.
