On publishing "Lolita" in England

Happy release day to author Thomas Harding, whose book The Maverick: George Weidenfeld and the Golden Age of Publishing is out today ...

... and happy anniversary, almost, to Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita, which came out as a limited edition in France in September 1955.

The title character of Harding's book actually played a huge role in publishing Lolita in England, where obscenity laws almost stopped its publication entirely.
