The 2023 Booker Prize shortlist has been unveiled, and what's most newsworthy about the selection is interestingly different among publications.
For the Guardian, based in London, the fact that only one British novelist made the list was worth leading with.
Meanwhile, for NPR, an American news source, the fact that two of the six finalists are debut works caught the eye most.
Other fun facts: none of the authors have ever been shortlisted for the Booker before, and half of them are named Paul.
Here are the six books competing for the £50,000 (about $63,900) prize, to be announced November 26; all shortlisted authors receive £2,500 (about $3,200) and a specially bound edition of their book.
