It's official: Salman Rushdie will release a memoir about surviving a vicious assault.

Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder will come out April 16, according to his publisher.

“This was a necessary book for me to write: a way to take charge of what happened, and to answer violence with art," Rushdie said, according to the Guardian.

It's the second memoir from the author following threats on his life; Joseph Anton, which covered his years in hiding after Iran's supreme leader called for his death over The Satanic Verses, came out in 2012.

The attack depicted in Knife took place in August 2022, while Rushdie was speaking at an event.
