We have two literary obituaries to share and one literature roundup related to a recent death.

The former: Author Tim Dorsey died November 26 at the age of sixty-two, and author John Nichols died November 27 at the age of eighty-three.

Dorsey, as noted in his obituary, was linking the bizarre and the criminal with the state of Florida long before the existence of the Florida Man meme, with his twenty-six-book series starring serial killer Serge A. Storms, who metes out justice across the Sunshine State.

Nichols also kept his literary attentions on one southern state; The Milagro Beanfield War, which also became a film, was among his many works (fiction and nonfiction) set in New Mexico.

His breakout novel, The Sterile Cuckoo, was set elsewhere but like The Milagro Beanfield War became a movie.

And now for the roundup related to a death: The New York Times compiled books about the late Sandra Day O’Connor, who was the first woman to ever serve on the US Supreme Court.
