The Randolph Caldecott medal, which honors the most distinguished picture book for children, went to Big, written and illustrated by Vashti Harrison.

And the Coretta Scott King Book Award, which honors an African American author and illustrator of outstanding books for children and young adults, went to Nigeria Jones by Ibi Zoboi.
