It’s incredibly easy to recognize how limited and valuable your own time is … and then forget that while making requests of other people.

Jane Friedman’s latest column in Publishers Weekly addresses that topic: specifically, in regards to asking that an influencer of any sort (traditional media or otherwise) read your book.

Friedman points out that they, too, have limited time and might not be able to read your book.

But there are certainly still ways they can boost it, and if you phrase your communication to them properly, they’ll even be willing to provide that support.
