An influential comic-book artist has died.

Kazuki Takahashi, creator of the popular Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, was found dead on Wednesday at age sixty.

According to media reports, he was found in snorkeling gear off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, though the death is still under investigation.

Takahashi had been working in comics for years before his breakthrough moment arrived with Yu-Gi-Oh!'s publication in a magazine in 1996.

The series ran for eight years and inspired a number of profitable projects, including a trading card game that has sold billions of cards, according to NPR.
