Sorry to be the bearer of bad news (and an accidental pun), but fires have destroyed part of the forest that inspired Winnie the Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood.

Nearly fifty acres of Ashdown Forest in Sussex County, United Kingdom, had burned through Monday, according to the BBC.

Fire officials said the blaze did not appear to have been set on purpose and noted that conditions had been fairly dry.

But there is good news: Rangers expect the area to recuperate quickly.

Author AA Milne was living in this area during the 1920s, when he began writing his Winnie the Pooh books.
