Neil Gaiman is happy to announce that his novel Anansi Boys is being adapted for television.

Gaiman announced the news in a post on his blog, which details how the book itself was conceived and how he waited some twenty-five years before adapting it, because he wanted to do it correctly.

“A top Hollywood director wanted to buy the rights to Anansi Boys, but when he told me that he planned to make all the characters white, I declined to sell it,” he wrote. “It was going to be done properly or not at all.”

Gaiman’s post includes details on the production crew, as well as a promise to start revealing the cast soon — and a hint as to the identity of one member.
