Gizmodo unveiled, this morning, the cover for and an excerpt of Star Child: A Biographical Constellation of Octavia Estelle Butler.

It’s written by Ibi Zoboi, a National Book Award finalist who also studied with Butler at the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers’ Workshop.

Star Child focuses on how Butler’s childhood influenced her celebrated writing career, doing so through verse and prose, says Gizmodo.

The website also says the book feels universal despite being aimed at middle-grade readers; you can make that judgment for yourself by checking out Gizmodo’s excerpt of Star Child, which comes out January 25.
