The winner of The Moth’s annual short story prize is up for anyone’s reading pleasure online.
The magazine’s judge, novelist Ali Smith, chose Janice Deal’s short story “Lost City,” calling it “dimensional, far-reaching, with a strangeness that feels true,” according to Literary Hub.
You can read “Lost City” on the Irish Times’s website, and if you enjoy it, there’s good news: Deal’s debut novel, The Sound of Rabbits, comes out in 2023.
