Elena Ferrante’s back catalogue continues its way to the silver screen.

The film adaptation of The Lost Daughter, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, premiered at the Venice Film Festival recently — to a four-minute standing ovation, according to Literary Hub.

Curious what’s so amazing about it? You can find out in full on December 17 or take a peek now, since the trailer is out for viewing.

The film — full psychological horror, in Lit Hub’s words — stars Olivia Colman and Dakota Johnson.
