No doubt you’ve loaded up your devices and suitcases with all the reading material — electronic, paper, and audio — that you’ll need for any holiday travels.

But if you’ll be in a car with other passengers, you might want something shorter and shareable.

In that case, may we suggest two recent episodes from a favorite podcast, Stuff You Missed In History Class.

One is seasonal (“Washington Irving’s ‘American’ Christmas,” about the writer’s influence on how we celebrate the holiday in the US); the other, simply literary (“Amy Levy,” on a writer and poet who gained fame in the 1880s but whose early death cost her a place in common literary history).
