We've shared crowdfunding appeals for posthumous literary projects before.
But the latest one we found was a little less expected than, say, a poetry collection from a beloved sci-fi/fantasy author.
It focuses on an author's coaster (or beer mat) collection.
Evidently, upon writer Iris Murdoch's death, a shopping bag full of coasters was found in her personal library.
Miles Leeson, director of the Iris Murdoch Research Centre, and Anne Rowe, a visiting professor there, saw it as divine inspiration.
Why not, they felt, write a book exploring Murdoch's love of pubs and how it affected her literature — and adorn it with art of her coasters?
The pair have set up a fundraiser to publish that book; you can learn more about and contribute to the Iris Murdoch's Beermats fundraiser at Unbound.
